The Canadian ship is a 650 ft self-unloading dry-bulk carrier built in 2017 in Croatia. It entered service in the Great Lakes area in 2018. Its carrying capacity is just over 25,000 tons. 🇨🇦🧂
According to the Houghton County Road Commission, the salt will be mixed with sand for use on the roads. Salt makes up 3-5% of the mixture, which is enough to help the sand stick to the roads.
