Using this checklist to prepare your home will help produce great results.
Our 360 virtual tour camera can see everything that a person walking around can see, so the entire area must be prepped for the virtual tour in the same way. In general, all visible clutter needs to be cleared and the home should be as clean as possible. Using this checklist to prepare your home will help produce great results.
Before the Shoot
Lighting
- Replace broken light bulbs
- Replace mismatching color light bulbs (blue vs yellow tones)
- Add extra lamps to darker areas of the home, such as the basement or rooms without natural light
- Open all window blinds/curtains
- Just before the photographer arrives, turn on all lights
Main Interior Areas
- Remove all visible clutter
- Remove all personal photos and items
- Put all shoes and jackets in closets
- Remove all pet items, including dishes, toys, and beds
- Put away all children’s toys
- Empty trash cans
- Vacuum carpets
- Clean windows
- Sweep hard floors
- Remove papers, mail, and other clutter
- Remove doormats and small throw rugs
- Remove seasonal decorations
Kitchen/Dining Room:
- Clear kitchen counters of all small appliances and other clutter
- Clean surfaces including countertops, appliances, kitchen sink, and backsplash
- Clear appliance surfaces (especially refrigerator door) of magnets and clutter
- Store food in cabinets
- Declutter counters and remove items from the stove
- Hide soaps, sponges, cleaning items, and towels
- Clear sink and counter of dishes
- Organize items on open shelves
- Straighten tablets, stools, and chairs
Bedrooms - Make all of the beds using sheets that match and fit correctly
- Put away all clothing and shoes
- Clean under beds (nothing should be visible under beds)
- Clear all nightstands, dressers, and other surfaces of clutter
Bathrooms
- Make the bathrooms sparkle by cleaning all surfaces
- Clear counter of all toiletries and personal items
- Mirrors should be spotless (clean and streak-free)
- Clean toilets and close lids
- Close shower doors
- Remove all items from the tub and shower
- Hang fresh towels
The Day of the Shoot
Before we arrive, there is some last-minute preparation you should do to make the virtual tour capture go smoothly:
- Open the blinds/curtains throughout the home to let in as much natural light as possible
- Turn on all interior lights, including small lamps and under-cabinet lighting
- Turn off ceiling fans, TVs, and computer screens
- During the shoot, plan for sellers and pets to leave the property or stay in an area that won’t be captured.
